Worker Safety

We all have a duty to do everything reasonable to ensure worker safety. Our beliefs have been a catalyst to push us to that next level, in which we have developed and managed an “organizational fitting”, thorough and extensive Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE-MS) that exceeds regulatory, clientele, and industry compliance requirements.

Working Collectively

We all need to work collectively to ensure we are continually improving upon our health and safety systems.

Our Commitment

Ridgeline Canada Inc. is committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure that Health, Safety and Environment remain integral values within its business units. The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of Ridgeline Canada Inc. (RCI) renews its commitment to HSE each year by signing our internal HSE Policy.

Our HSE Policy applies to all Ridgeline Canada Inc. employees and is communicated through our employee on-boarding process, as well through routine communications. Each employee is required to read and sign off on a document explaining content and implications.

Ridgeline has mandated that our HSE Policy includes a commitment to the following:

  • Prevention of injuries and illnesses
  • Continuous improvement
  • Accountability
  • Review and follow-up
  • Revisions to ensure our system is fitting to our changing needs
  • and that information within our system is accurate

In addition to our HSE Policy, we have demonstrated our ongoing commitment by maintaining our Certificate of Recognition (COR), issued by both the Government of Alberta, Ministry of Labour, and co-signed by the Alberta Construction Safety Association (Alberta Certifying Partner).

Furthermore, we are committed to our clientele, and as such, comply with their HSE subcontractor management programs and systems. At present, Ridgeline Canada Inc. is registered with the following pre-qualification screening systems as per the request of our clientele:

  • ISN
  • Avetta (formerly PICS)
  • ComplyWorks

  • OUR COMPETENCY

At Ridgeline Canada Inc., We ensure that each worker is deemed “competent” to safely perform work without supervision. We do this by:

    • Ensuring workers are hired with necessary qualifications and experience.
    • Implementing a position inventory in which each position has an established required training component and each worker meets 100% compliance to those set requirements;
    • Tracking training validity. At RCI we utilize HSE Tracker, a “…comprehensive, industry-leading, online tracking system, where users are given a unique digital passport viewable anytime, anywhere” to ensure workers are monitored for current safety certification or notified of upcoming expiring certificates.
    • A mentorship program which ensures that our new employees are with supervision for their first 30 days of employment.

  • INDUSTRY LEADERS

Did you know that in Alberta it’s not just your right to refuse unsafe work, it’s also your duty? ? At Ridgeline, we ensure that our employees have this understanding and know the difference.

What is the difference? When you have a right, you can decide whether to work; when you have a duty, you don’t have a choice. You are mandated by law to refuse the work. We have created an internal system at RCI to ensure that our workers understand and utilize this process.

Leading indicators within our HSE-MS are driving influences of our systems. We recognize the foundational requirements to prevent injury and illnesses, and thus, have established many intertwining, systematic processes within our HSE-MS to ensure that we are identifying and controlling hazards.

  • INDUSTRY LEADERS

Our goal is to become an industry leader. We have a firm belief that what doesn’t get measured, doesn’t get done, thus we have committed to the implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within its HSE-MS. Our KPI structure ensures that all levels within the organization are tasked with duties that can be measured, assigning both responsibility and ownership simultaneously. Progress of KPI compliance is reviewed by our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) during quarterly meetings and, in turn, supports HSE in commitment and resources to ensure that the organization can successfully attain annual HSE targets and objectives.
