Did you know that in Alberta, you have a duty to refuse unsafe work, not a right? At Ridgeline Canada, we ensure that our employees have this understanding and know the difference.
What is the difference?
When you have a right, you can decide whether to work; when you have a duty, you don’t have a choice. You are mandated by law to refuse the work. We have created an internal system at Ridgeline Canada to ensure that our workers understand and utilize this process.
Leading indicators within our HSE-MS are driving influences of our systems. We recognize the foundational requirements to prevent injury and illnesses, and thus, have established many intertwining, systematic processes within our HSE-MS to ensure that we are identifying and controlling hazards. Our goal is to become an industry leader. We have a firm belief that what doesn’t get measured, doesn’t get done, thus we have committed to the implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within its HSE-MS. Our KPI structure ensures that all levels within the organization are tasked with duties that can be measured, assigning both responsibility and ownership simultaneously. Progress of KPI compliance is reviewed by our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) during quarterly meetings and, in turn, supports HSE in commitment and resources to ensure that the organization can successfully attain annual HSE targets and objectives.
